Accents For Living / Window Coverings since 1981
When looking for a window covering professional here are a few things you will need to know or ask.
- A few things to consider when purchasing Window Coverings, energy efficient, light control, light filtering, light blocking, child & pet safety, privacy, security, great view-see out, sound issues (inside & outside), allergies, high moisture areas, fading prevention, ease of maintenance, home automation & motorization, specialty windows, conforming to ccr’s (homeowner-condo associations requirements), ability to help couples/committees with decision process, environmentally friendly, what is behind the wall, installation, familiar with the products benefits and drawbacks (examples; flameproof, light gaps, cleaning, etc.).
- Balance of look and function, which is higher priority for each room?
- What are your 2-3 priorities in this list for purchase? Quality, Price, Selection, Service.
- Is the person or company selling you the product using a licensed contractor specific to the trade of window coverings “C-61, D-52” ? The California law states any home/business improvement over $500.00 will be done by a licensed contractor specific to their trade, and if 3 or more trades are done a general contractor may do the work.
- Do they have liability insurance, resale license, bonding, and in compliance to local requirements?
- Has the salesperson listened to your needs and priorities, and given you a choice of solutions?
- Have you seen the color choices at the location where they are going? Lighting, daytime, and night conditions vary the look of colors and appearance.
- Do you know or have you met the person doing the installation or coming to do the measurements?
- Know the key person to contact if a solution needs to happen. Many times the person making your product is minimum wage, and rushed to produce your coverings. All window covering manufacturers can make mistakes, how they handle fixing them is critical if it occurs to you.
- Ask a friend how there last experience went, and who they used. How was there experience?
- Does the company offer temporary shades while you are in the decision making process, and do they rebate the cost back to you when you purchase from them?
- Do they offer services of other qualified, pre-screened professionals to help make your life choices easier.
- Are they willing to install other vendors products, and use customers materials?
- Are they certified, and qualified to do repairs?
- What is the perfect window covering? Hint, there is none or we would all be selling it.
- Finally are they willing to do what is best for you, even if it means no sale?
